The Prospehero theme was developed as part of a kick start package by IBM. It has several good practices that it illustrates in addition to describing a complete WCM implementation project from Analysis and Design through Build, it also provides a working Portal Theme, Portal Page import and WCM Library and step by step instructions to use it.

Analysis
We will cover business analysis, requirements gathering and information architecture. The deliverable are: Requirements Gathering Workshop Agenda, Analysis Document and a Sitemap.

Project Planning
The project planning phase looks at coming up with a project plan for the project. It should include all aspects of the project including such things as the design, content creation, training and entry, the build, deployment and various types of testing. It is part 2 rather than 1 because it is very difficult to estimate the effort of most of these things without the analysis already being completed. The deliverable will be a project plan.
Creative
The creative design phase and the production of the graphics will be covered in this part. This part of the project may be undertaken by an external company or in-house graphic designers. (In some projects this phase may not exist if an existing creative design is being used or perhaps one of the supplied Portal themes) The deliverables will be the creative concepts, a set of page style designs, style guide and web optimised images
Design
The design phase consists of the technical design which may include items such as the WCM design and infrastructure design. The deliverable will be the Design document
Build for 6.1.5
The build involves the actual implementation of the website in WCM and Portal following the specifications in the technical design and using the creative page style guides and style guide. The deliverable is a unit tested WCM site, exported and ready to install.
Migration to 7.0
The site has now been migrated to 7.0 using a simple export/import process and a script to migrate the pages. The resulting site was re-exported from 7.0 for easy install.
Performance
The performance of this sample out of the box is pretty bad. ALL cacheing of every type is disabled. To improve it:
- Make sure servlet caching is enabled - what are the consequences of this?
- Make sure dyna-cache is on - what are the consequences of this?
- Open each portal page and enable caching - what are the consequences of this?
- Open each portlet and enable caching - what are the consequences of this?
